#MoviesICanWatchAnytime

So this was a TT (Trending Topic) on Twitter this morning (follow me!  @Mostly_Mandy), and it got me thinking and remembering the movies I love the most!  Here's a short list of what I came up with for my tweet:

1.  Jurassic Park.  The original, because it was the best and has an amazing soundtrack.

2.  The Beach.  Gorgeous scenery, great music, and Leonardo DiCaprio.  After watching that preview, I just realized that the dude that plays Daffy also plays Rumpelstiltskin in ABC's Once Upon a Time!  I KNEW he looked familiar!

3.  Fried Green Tomatoes.  Don't laugh!  I saw this movie in the theatre when it first came out and something about it hooked me.  To this day, when it comes on TV, I watch.

4.  Ever After.  I don't even need to explain why.  If you have a soft side, you get it.

5.  The Last Unicorn.  One of my favourites as a kid.  To this day when I see the crest of a wave, I picture the unicorns running from the foam.

There are so, so many more, but I don't want to take up your WHOLE day lol  Feel free to share the movies you can watch over and over again in the comments section :)

Not a Fan...

Apparently my little princess does not like the fact I chose to read tonight...

Such a diva!

Lolz.

What are you folks up to tonight?

Sweet November Stamps - Cinder

I bought Cinder over a year ago.  He was cute and I really never had a plan for him... until I went to Michael'a and saw their new animal print Cuttlebug folders.  IDEA!
Available for purchase in my ArtFire Studio
The card base is white cardstock, chalked around the edges with yellow.  The background paper is shimmery green cardstock from Michael's and embossed with the Cuttlebug animal print folder.  The centre pieces are both cut with Spellbinders, the stamp is Cinder by Sweet November Stamps, he is colored in with Copics and the glitter accents are Stickles,

Thank You Card with Script & Flowers

Another one that was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest.  Again, I tweaked it to make it work with what I had on hand.
Available for purchase in my ArtFire Studio
The background is a script stamp done with a Stampin' Up Ink Spot.  The ovals are Spellbinders.  Both stamps were purchased at Carousel.  The flowers are colored in with Copics and the glitter accents are Stickles.  Both the flower and the "Thanks so much" are popped to add dimension.

I think it's absolutely gorgeous!  I love the stamps she used :)

Earth Art International Animal Spirit Stamps - Seahorse Card

This card was a total fluke for me.  I'm not usually a fan of browns, but I had seen a card on Pinterest that was done in these colors and I didn't hate it!  I figured now is the time to use up the brown paper I have in my drawer.
Available for purchase in my ArtFire Studio
The background stamp is musical notes, done in VersaMark on the brown paper.  I heat-set it before using Tim Holtz Distress Ink to shade the edges of the brown.  Next I stamped and embossed the Earth Art Seahorse stamp.  You can't tell from the picture but the "Congratulations" is actually popped (raised up, for those of you non-crafters that don't know the lingo :p ), so it adds some dimension to the card.  It was also stamped and embossed, and the edges inked with TH.  The dots were done with Viva Decor.  Base of the card is black.

Stunning!

Whimsy - Sealed With a Kiss

This card is a PAIN to photograph!  The silver holographic snowflake background paper is extremely reflective, so it kept showing my hands or the camera in the pictures lol  Please excuse the weird angle, it's the only way I could get a shot ;)
This stamp is also by Whimsy Stamps and it's called "Sealed With a Kiss".  The seals are colored in with Copics and have Glossy Accents on their eyes.  I used Spellbinders to cut the ovals, and a Martha Stewart corner punch to get the design on the corners.  Glitter accents are all Stickles, large cear gems are from Michael's and the amazing holographic snowflake paper is from Carousel Rubber Stamps.  Actually so is that bit of ribbon lol

Whimsy - Wee Snippet & Mystic

I promised pics of the cards I made yesterday, and now that I'm finally home and have had a chance to relax, I quickly snapped a few shots.  I'll post each one separately so they're easier to find in the future.

First off is "Wee Snippet & Mystic" by Whimsy Stamps:
Available for purchase in my ArtFire Studio
They are colored with Copics and accented with Stickles for the sparkles, Viva Decor for the dots on the sides, & Glossy Accents on the eyes.  The punch I used on the sides is Martha Stewart, I used Spellbinders to cut the centre oval and accent oval, the printed paper is from Michael's, and that gorgeous purple is from Carousel Rubber Stamps.

Productive Wednesday!

I was on a creative roll today!  I made 4 cards today and one yesterday!  Ideas just kept coming to me and actually working out with supplies I had on hand, and that NEVER happens lol  I was going to post pics tonight, but some of them still have bits that are drying, plus the light's no good at this time of day.  I'll get them up tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow (Sushi Thursday!!), it's week 2 of Weight Watchers Maintenance, so keep your fingers crossed for me that I am not fluctuating too much.  I absolutely ate all my points, plus all my Weekly points and then some lol  This is the first time I've ever gone over like that, but it was also the first weekend of sunny nice weather in a long time and the beer was BEGGING me to drink it ;)

After I weigh-in & go to my meeting, I'm popping down to my favourite craft store, Carousel, to finish up some cards and lend a hand if needed. But after all that, I will set up a photoshoot and get pics of these cards done so you guys can see.  I'm pretty proud of them :)

Have a fab night!

Rainy Tuesday

Woke up today to a dreary morning.  I can't really complain though, we just had the most beautifully sunny long weekend!  We even got to go fishing!  Don't worry, the only thing I caught was a sunburn... oh and a stick (which I have been told I should call Tree Bass lolz).  It was nice to get out and soak up the sun, that's for sure.

So what should I do with a rainy day?  Well I have to pop down to the salon in a bit, but after that I am actually going to work on cards!  I have a new theme planned, dare I say a COLLECTION?!  This might end up being a new strategy to get myself creatively inspired... hmmm

Need a 5 min break?

To get the full effect, you should click the "Watch on YouTube" bit at the bottom, and select a bigger size.

You're welcome :)

Whimsy - Lady Raven

This is a card I made for my sister for her birthday earlier this month.  I got inspired after taking a class at Carousel Rubber Stamps, taught by Brigitte, about learning to color and shade with Copics.  The stamp is by Whimsy Stamps and its called Lady Raven.  As soon as I saw this one hanging on the display I HAD to have it and I knew my sis would love it :)

I did this card as an easel-style for a change.  Lady Raven was colored in with Copic Markers and accented with Stickles and gems.  The printed black paper was bought at a small craft shop in Pointe-Claire, QC a few years ago and the gorgeous deep blue was purchased at Carousel.  The ribbon is just some of the $1.49 rolls at Michaels that is sheer in the centre.  I used Spellbinders "Labels Twenty Three" to cut out the shapes that the 'Happy Birthday' is stamped on.

Team Russia!

My darling Ovie and Team Russia won the 2012 IIHF World Championships today! He is such a phenomenal hockey player, it's nice to see him come out on top for a change :)  Behold the Gr8:

Happy Ovie makes me smile :)

Thomas Kinkade

So I mentioned a couple of days ago that this month's ATC theme was Thomas Kinkade.  I don't want to say I'm not a fan, because that would be rude.  I think he did beautiful artwork.  It's just not really in line with the style of crafting I do.  So please don't think I'm hating on him or anything.

This was my first time actually working with one of his stamps.  What an experience!  If you have ever used one of his stamps you will know that they are HIGHLY detailed, and trying to figure out the best way to stamp them to get a good image can be a project in itself!  So to save you some trouble, I am going to tell you how I ended up with a great image.

First of all I used VersaFine ink.  I tried Stampin' Up inks, Brilliance, and a few others but VersaFine BY FAR had the best luck getting all those tiny details to show up.  I also found that stamping on my Spellbinders rubber mat (with a piece of paper over it to protect it from the ink) also helped to get a clearer image.

Here is a shot of my finished ATC:
Like I said I used VersaFine ink in Crimson, then put Glossy Accents with Warm Highlight Glitter Ritz on all the windows, chalked the edges with black Pebbles chalk, punched the edges and mounted on black cardstock. It's not the best I've done, and after all the trial and error trying to get a good clean image, I was at the point where I just wanted this to be DONE.  Don't judge me ;)

I can't wait to see what the others in my group came up with, hopefully they were more inspired than I was lol

May ATC

I have an ATC (Artist Trading Card) meet on Sunday and this months theme is Thomas Kinkade since he passed not too long ago.
I borrowed these 2 stamps from Carousel Rubber Stamps as I don't own anything by Kinkade. I think I'm leaning towards using the lighthouse one.
Well, we'll see what I come up with. Wish me luck :)

House Hippo

I just found the elusive House Hippo on my bookshelf...

The Beginning

Well, I've finally been sucked in to the Blogosphere...  I've never had a blog, so please excuse my noobness.

I always hate making a first post anywhere because I never know what to say, and everything I come up with in my head sounds lame.  I guess I'll just try to get all the lameness out now, and hope for the best for the rest of my posts.

So my blog.  It's mostly going to be about card making/scrapbooking/papercrafting/etc.  I'm sure there will be tons of random posts about music, hockey, gaming, books I've read or shiny things that get my attention too, so let's just say this blog will be about random things that I find awesome.  Hopefully someone out there reading this will find my interests interesting too and give me a follow so I don't feel so lame about blogging into nothingness lol

So That's it for the daunting "First Post".  Hopefully it wasn't too lame.  Better yet, let's forget it ever happened and move on :)
